A spectral sequence for the cohomology of an infinite loop space
Delooping the 2-completion tower of a spectrum gives a spectral
sequence for the mod-2 cohomology of its infinite loop space. Its
E_2-page can be described using certain (nonabelian) derived functors.
I will explain how to compute these in terms of the (abelian) derived
functors of destabilization, already studied by Singer, Goerss, Lannes
and Zarati, and others, and how this allows us to describe the
spectral sequence in some very simple cases. This is joint work with
Haynes Miller.
