Content:
Academia can be a challenging environment to work in, especially when you are a doctoral candidate or postdoctoral researcher. This interactive workshop focuses on exploring techniques and strategies that help you to activate your personal resources - with the aim of not only “surviving” in academia, but also thriving in this environment and achieving your goals while maintaining your health and well-being.
Using a blend of interactive input, activities, self-reflection, and group discussions, we will explore
• how to balance different areas of your life and identify areas of strength and resources as well as areas where you seek change to increase well-being,
• our stress response and how to identify and reduce stressors to keep stress at a healthy level,
• the role of self-care in maintaining our personal resources and how small habits can keep us healthier in the long run,
• how we can manage and reduce our limiting beliefs (such as our inner critic) and strengthen a more empowering and confident mind set,
• and what we can do to handle setbacks or moments of crisis in a way that allows us to grow and move forward
