Simulationsmodelle sind eine zentrale Methode in der Systemwissenschaft, um komplexe Zusammenhänge und dynamische Prozesse zu analysieren und zu verstehen. Das Erstellen solcher Modelle bedarf ein hohes Maß an mathematischem Wissen und Beherrschung von methodischen Ansätzen (z.B. agentenbasierte oder System Dynamics Modellierung). Daher können die Modelle und deren Ergebnisse meist nur durch Experten verstanden und interpretiert werden. Bei unsicherer Faktenlage und fehlendem Konsens über Werte und Ziele (sogenannten „messy problems“) können Expertenmodelle und deren Ergebnisse jedoch hinterfragt bzw. angezweifelt werden. Daher wurden partizipative Modellierungsmethoden entwickelt, die die Einbindung von Stakeholdern (d.h. für eine bestimmte Problemsituation relevante Akteure) in den Modellierungsprozess erlauben. Unterschiedliche Ansichten über das Problem und mögliche Lösungsansätze sollen in diesen Modellen berücksichtigt und transparent analysiert werden. Durch die aktive Einbindung der Stakeholder in den Modellierungsprozess sollen das Verständnis und Vertrauen in die Ergebnisse gestärkt werden, wodurch Lernen und Verhaltensänderungen angestoßen werden können.
In dieser Veranstaltung werden transdisziplinäre Konzepte und Methoden vorgestellt und in Übungen erprobt. Der Fokus des Kurses liegt auf partizipativen Modellierung und deren Einsatz in komplexen Problemsituationen (z.B. Konflikte bei der Wassernutzung, Subventionierung von Biotreibstoff). Die Erstellung von konzeptionellen Modellen in Gruppenprozessen und dessen Nutzung als Grundlage für die Erstellung von Simulationsmodellen steht im Zentrum der Übungen. Weitere partizipative Methoden wie Rollenspiele und Computerspiele als Lernwerkzeuge („serious gaming“) werden ebenfalls in der Vorlesung und Übung behandelt. An den Vorlesungs- und Übungsteil schließt sich eine Projektarbeit an, die von allen Teilnehmern zusammen bearbeitet wird. In dem Projekt wird ein konkretes Problem mit Akteuren aus der Region untersucht. In diesem Jahr werden die Themenfelder nachhaltige Mobilität und Logistik in Osnabrück behandelt. Das Projekt umfasst die Analyse der Wahrnehmung verschiedener Gruppen, die Herausarbeitung möglicher Konflikte, und die Erarbeitung von Problemlösungsstrategien. Aufgrund der Knappheit der zur Verfügung stehenden Zeit, wird sich die Projektarbeit auf die Erstellung von konzeptionellen Modellen beschränken.
Die Beurteilung der Leistung erfolgt auf der Basis von kurzen Ausarbeitungen zu zwei Übungen und einem Lerntagebuch. Zusätzlich fließt die Projektarbeit mit in die Gesamtnote ein. Bei Fragen zu der Veranstaltung kann der Dozent jederzeit per E-Mail kontaktiert werden.
